I have been practicing Pilates since 1998, teaching Pilates since 2005. Throughout my teaching career I have had the pleasure of teaching at several studios in the northeast as well as Hawaii and have taught clients from age 5yrs. old to 93yrs. old. I enjoy teaching Pilates on the mat and apparatus to every type of individual: men, women, kids, athletes, pregnant, injured, weak, strong, and people of all ages and body types.

I took my first Pilates class while at school for Modern Dance and was overwhelmed by the physical feedback I received and the way I was able to improve my dance technique and posture. Before doing Pilates I had back pain and spasms. I had overdeveloped back muscles, a weak core, tightness everywhere and pain. After doing Pilates for a semester, I was hooked. My back pain subsided, my body gained strength where it was weak and flexibility where it was tight. I knew right away that I wanted to teach Pilates and help others experience it’s numerous benefits!
By focusing on building core strength and overall body awareness, I strive to inspire my clients to gain total body flexibility, leanness, strength, confidence and an improved mind body connection. I believe your form and proper alignment are the keys, along with practice and consistency to obtaining your long and short term personal goals. I am constantly learning, have never been bored teaching and have never taught the same class twice!

Niki Kruger
Certified Pilates Mat & Reformer Instructor
Certified through Hana Pilates and Bodyworks

Picture
Niki Kruger is a certified Pilates Mat instructor. She began her Pilates practice in 2018 to further her recovery after multiple hip surgeries. Pilates helped her improve her posture, strengthen her core, and learn how to engage the proper muscles when performing exercises. She understands the frustration of a long recovery and dealing with pain. Niki pursued teaching because she wanted to help others who are in pain. What she loves about Pilates is the awareness and mind/body connection, and that Pilates is for anyone—at any level and any age.

Yi-ju Bott
Certified Pilates Mat Instructor
Certified through Hana Pilates and Bodyworks 2020
Yi-ju started practicing Pilates nearly 20 years ago, as an environmental scientist at a national lab in Washington State. She found Pilates and yoga useful counterpoints to long hours of computer work, reducing joint/muscle pain and headaches, and building strength and flexibility to let her more fully enjoy her other hobbies of hiking and flamenco dancing.

Moving to Rochester in 2005, she started working with Hana Pilates & Bodywork as a student. After an early retirement, she deepened her Pilates studies, eventually becoming a certified Instructor in 2020. While certification was originally just a personal goal, she has found the practice of instruction challenging and rewarding, and enjoys passing on the benefits of Pilates to all. She looks forward to helping you gain mind and body connection, flexibility, pain relief, and ultimately a happier life, through the learning and practice of Pilates together.

In 2024 I graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Marketing. While in school, I cheered which sparked my lifelong love for movement and wellness. Pilates quickly became one of my favorite forms of movement and something I genuinely look forward to every day. I fell in love with it because it constantly challenges you while building both strength and confidence. With a background in both athletics and creative marketing, I bring energy, positivity, and intentionality into every class. My goal is to help you feel stronger, more connected to your body, and inspired after every session. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to deepen your practice, I’m here to cheer you on every step of the way!

Guest Instructor:
Leslie MacDonald

MSC., RAD_TC, Body Harmonics
Comprehensive Pilates Instructor with Balanced Body
Picture
Leslie started her long life in dance and movement education in 1967 at the age of 5 at the National Ballet School in Toronto, then studied as a teenager at the Lois Smith School of Dance, and in the George Brown College dance program in Toronto. After extensive training as an adult under Patricia McLeod and Linda Godwin at the Royal City School of Ballet in Guelph, Ontario, she successfully undertook the Teaching Certification examination of the Royal Academy of Dance, passing with honors. More than 20 years of teaching students of every age followed. Her Pilates teacher training began soon after at Pilates in Guelph, with certification as a Mat Specialist completed at Body Harmonics in Toronto in 2007.  Studies at Dance Theatre David Earle in Guelph sparked a strong interest in modern dance, and a deep respect for mature dancers in general, and for Martha Graham in particular. After moving to Rochester in 2009 she was privileged to have studied with and taught for Christine Fendley of the Park Avenue Dance company, and also for Elizabeth Clarke.
She has also worked with students of trumpet at the Eastman School of Music and at brass player’s symposia, applying the principals of Pilates for improved breathing, posture and increased confidence while performing. As of the fall of 2016, retiring after a 30 year career in biological sciences research, Leslie is now focused full time on exploring teaching opportunities working with dancers, musicians and athletes and playing a lot more trumpet in local orchestras and small ensembles. After completing the required 800 hours of training, teaching, and testing, Leslie is now a Balanced Body Comprehensively Certified Pilates instructor.  Leslie is delighted to be a part of the Hana Pilates and Bodyworks team, as both an instructor and life-long learner.

She is currently an undergraduate student of Nazareth University double majoring in Dance Studies and Digital Marketing Strategy.
